Getting there

Last night Allen and I put Cael to bed and went downstairs to work. We didn't think there was any way possible to get things cleaned up in one night. We actually got the rest of the mess cleaned up and bagged. Saturday we'll start drywalling. Yea!! There is light at the end of the tunnel!

Saturday, Ben Peters came over and helped Allen with demolition. I came downstairs, and this is what I saw...
All of the drywall in those two rooms is now piled in Cael's room. We'll be taking that out to the dumpster every Thursday for a few weeks now. I stayed upstairs for the mostpart. There were grunts, growels, and a few manly outbursts. Too much testosterone for me.

We have two bathrooms again - yea! It's not that we desperately need two, but it's just a small step towards getting the basement put back together. One room down....

Train play

Cael wanted to play trains with Daddy, so of course he obliged quite willingly. The first video: I had to show you how Cael says his 'L's. One of his trains is bLLack and another one is bLLue. The second video: Allen was using a funny voice and telling Cael to "move your train, boy!" Cael figured that Daddy's voice was a good one, so he used it too. "Move your train, Dad!"

This weekend

Districts looked promising, but the brackets were stacked really hard. No hardware, so no trip to Omaha. We're really bummed out, but looking forward to next year. My speech team brought home two superior ribbons and a medal from Minden, so it was an ok day for us. We went to Allen's grandma's birthday party last night at the Saddle Club. We got to see some family that we hadn't seen in a while. Grandma is 84 on the 9th. Of course Cael entertained everyone by playing football with an eleven year old cousin.

The local paper (Grand Island Independent) did a huge article on Allen's wrestling team. Here's the link if you'd care to take a gander. It's pretty cool. There was a big picture of Kyle wrestling a kid from Nebraska Christian. Check it out. http://www.theindependent.com/stories/02072008/spo_prepshlhswres07.shtml The guys are headed to De Witt for Districts. I hope they come back with hardware because that means we're off to Omaha next week for State! They're staying at Concordia, Seward tonight because it's such a long drive from here.

Staying home...again

Yesterday we had a snow day. Since we have lots of kids coming from all four directions, it was not a good idea to make kids come in. We were going to have an early out today with our "recruitment/visitation day." A late start would be dumb since we'd only have an hour and a half of school, so I guess Cael will just have to put up with me for another day!

Cael's cookies

Cael loves when I make chocolate chocolate chip pancakes for him. They are a recipe out of "The Sneaky Chef," so they have good-for-you-stuff in them (spinich, blueberries, wheat germ). I make them small and he calls them "cookies." He eats them (and almost everything else) with jelly. Personally, I like them cold out of the fridge. If they're warm, I'll put some peanut butter on them. Yum!!
