Carpet

I'm getting carpet, I'm getting carpet, I'm getting carpet, hey, hey, hey, hey! Yesterday was crazy. The entire downstairs is now upstairs. The carpet layers are going to be working today and tomorrow. Hopefully we'll get to move stuff back down tomorrow. The good part is that we'll be cleaning stuff and organizing it before it goes back down. Both rooms are painted. I'll post pictures when I can.

It's coming along...

I have the guest room almost done. I'm hoping to finish tonight when I get home from One Act practice. I'll take pictures when it's complete. Jeff is coming back tonight one more time to finish up Cael's room. My mom is coming from Arapahoe tomorrow to watch Cael so I can paint. Our track and golf teams are out tomorrow, so our guidance counselor is taking the rest of the kids (a whopping 24 out of 70) to Concordia to visit the campus. That means I don't have to go to school! It's supposed to rain in the late afternoon and evening tomorrow. The track meet had better not get canceled! We have a couple of my students coming over on Sunday to help bring all of our furniture upstairs because we're getting carpet on Monday. We'll be spending two nights at Allen's mom's house, since we really won't be able to function in ours. So carpet Monday and Tuesday. Tuesday after school the two boys are coming back to put the furniture back downstairs and get paid with steak. After that it's just clean, clean, clean and organize till I drop. We are having a company come in to clean our ducts. Nothing will stay clean until all of the dust out of the vents. They'll also spray something that kills mold and bacteria. Hopefully we won't have as many sinus infections from here on out (even though everyone in our house is on antibiotics right now!).

Loaves and Fish

I witnessed a true miracle last night. It was at our annual benefit banquet. That's our event that we use to raise money to keep our school running. Right now, our school is struggling to make some ends meet, so last night was extremely important. We have a silent auction, a speaker, a dinner, and a live auction. One of our seniors (Alvin), bought some seed corn that was on the live auction (remember, we're in Nebraska. Alvin has had to be the head of the household since his dad died when Alvin was in Jr. High. He took over his dad's farm, so he's had to grow up a lot.) So when he bought the corn, the auctioneer would make sure that everybody knew that it was one of our kids. Alvin actually put up 100 bushels of his own seed corn for live auction. It was bought, sold again, bought, sold again, and again, and again. His corn was sold 16 times for a total of $7,900!!! It was truly a miracle that people were moved to do such a wonderful thing. So remember, if you don't think you have much to give, or can't make an impact, God can make it into something AMAZING!!!

On the mend

Cael is back to his normal, car-playing, Spiderman-jumping, old self. Thanks for all of your prayers. Here's a video that I took a while ago of Cael singing his ABC's. He's better at it now, but this is pretty funny.

Home...finally

We were discharged around 11am this morning and got home around 2pm. We were so happy to get that I V out. Cael actually did pretty well with it. Especially when he was feeling better and wanted to get down and play with his cars. We're still not out of the clear, but we're on our way. Allen, on the other hand, is banished to downstairs as he came home last night to shower, but stayed home because he started throwing up. joy. All Cael really wants to do is be outside. We can't spend too much time outside, though because he does have a cold along with the rotovirus and we can't push it too much too fast.
